Legacy in Motion
Roots & Wings — Re:Sound, A New Chapter
The Return of Excellence
Competition Preparation Programme
Shaping Artists for the International Stage
Welcome
After navigating through global uncertainty and a long pause, the Jakarta International Summer Music Festival returns in 2026 with renewed spirit, vision, and direction.
HOME | Legacy in Motion is not merely the return of a music camp — it is the continuation of a living and growing educational legacy. For years, JISMF has been a space for character formation, discipline, and international artistic standards for young Indonesian musicians.
The 2026 edition holds special significance. JISMF alumni — who have now completed studies at various world-renowned music institutions — return as faculty members. The place that was once their learning space now becomes a space of dedication and mentoring for the next generation.
Carrying the philosophy of Roots & Wings, JISMF 2026 celebrates strong educational roots while acknowledging the wings that carry students to international stages — and now, returning to build Indonesia's musical ecosystem.
For one full week, participants will undergo an intensive artistic experience: living together in a creative community, attending two to three major instrument lessons and masterclasses, and performing in concerts every evening alongside fellow participants and faculty. The festival culminates with the Indonesia Open Competition (IOC) — an open competition upholding transparency and international standards — and closes with a Gala Concert celebrating artistic achievement and excellence.
About the Programme
JISMF 2026 is designed as an intensive training programme to help young musicians prepare for music competitions at an international level.
Unlike conventional festivals, JISMF presents a focused learning ecosystem where participants not only receive technical guidance, but also develop artistic strategies, mental readiness, and a deep understanding of global competition standards.
The programme features JISMF alumni who are now active on international stages as faculty, offering real and relevant perspectives drawn from their direct experience.
Approach
The core of JISMF 2026 is building comprehensive participant readiness through:
Intentional competition programming
Beyond technique into expression
Peak performance under pressure
World competition expectations
Performance
Participants will perform in concerts every evening alongside fellow participants and faculty — designed as structured performance simulations before competitions.
Each performance serves as a vital step in developing stage readiness, confidence, and artistic maturity.
Methodology
After each internal concert, participants join in-depth evaluation sessions with faculty, discussing specific aspects of artistry, technique, and stage presentation. Through this cycle, participants gain multiple performance opportunities in a supportive environment, direct and applicable evaluation, space to implement real improvements, and measurable progress from one performance to the next.
Artistic & Educational Excellence
One of the greatest strengths of JISMF 2026 lies in its faculty — alumni of the festival who have now graduated from international music institutions and are active as performers and educators.
As alumni, they deeply understand the needs, challenges, and characteristics of Indonesian students. There is no cultural gap or pedagogical disconnect.
With youthful energy and a global perspective, they effectively bridge international standards with local context — relevant and accessible.
For parents, JISMF 2026 presents tangible proof of long-term educational impact — from participant to international graduate, returning as a professional mentor.
JISMF is not merely a one-week programme, but part of a sustainable mentoring ecosystem with real impact.
Our Difference
Not just a festival — but a process of artistic formation.

Message
Dr. Kuei Pin Yeo
With deep gratitude and pride, I welcome the return of the Jakarta International Summer Music Festival in 2026.
For years, JISMF has not merely been a summer programme — it has been a space for character formation, discipline, and artistic vision for Indonesia's younger generation. After navigating through a period full of global challenges, the return of this festival carries a far deeper meaning — it is about continuity, about coming home, and about a legacy that keeps moving.
This year's edition is truly special because JISMF alumni — who have now pursued education at leading international music institutions — return as faculty members. They once stood in the position of today's participants. They understand the same journey, the same challenges, and the same dreams.
This is the true meaning of HOME | Legacy in Motion — when strong roots give rise to wings, and those wings return to strengthen the roots of the next generation.
I believe that music education is not an instant result, but a long-term process that shapes sensitivity, integrity, and resilience. Through JISMF 2026, we are not only building better musicians, but more complete human beings.
May this festival become a new space of resonance for Indonesia — where tradition, renewal, and excellence meet on one stage.
